    Four seasons

    Greece has been making headlines this year. The country’s economic woes, its political struggles and tough negotiations in Brussels have all served to keep the spotlight firmly on the birthplace of democracy. But away from the front-page news and behind the economic and political headlines lie deeper social and cultural changes for Greek society. Still the main entry point to the EU for irregular migration, the country’s border with Turkey is under similar migratory pressure as it was a year ago. But behind the figures there is always a human story and while the numbers remain similar, the deeper picture is constantly changing in terms of composition, route and reasons for moving.

    Frontex Consultative Forum on Fundamental Rights: Public Call for Applications for Civil Society Organisations

    Pursuant to Article 26a (2) of the amended Frontex Regulation, Frontex shall establish a Consultative Forum on Fundamental Rights (CF), a knowledge and expertise resource body to enable the Agency to gain information and advice relevant to the aim of developing and promoting the full respect of Fundamental Rights in all the Agency’s activities.

    Third European Day for Border Guards

    Frontex held its third annual European Day for Border Guards (ED4BG) on May 24. This year’s edition of ED4BG hosted record numbers of participants and speakers as well as exhibitors from private industry and the border authorities of the Member States and International Organisations. The event’s main discussion this year was entitled “Gates or Bridges? The future of border control” during which expert views on the most important issues of the times were shared by representatives of IOM, Europol, Frontex and researchers.
