All personal data collected by Frontex are
processed in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation (EU) 2018/1725 of the European Parliament and of the
Council of 23 October 2018 on the protection of natural persons with
regard to the processing of personal data by the Union institutions, bodies,
offices and agencies and on the free movement of such data, and repealing
Regulation (EC) No 45/2001 and Decision No 1247/2002/EC.
As a general principle, Frontex only processes personal data for the
performance of tasks carried out in the public interest on the basis of the
Frontex Regulation.
Responsible units are obliged to duly notify all processing operations of
personal data to Frontex Data Protection Officer who keeps a Register of such processing
operations.
Frontex guarantees that the information collected is processed and/or accessed:
- only by the members of its staff who are responsible for the corresponding
operations,
- only for the purpose for which the data were collected, and
- only during the time needed to complete the processing operations.
Data subjects have the right to request access to the personal data or its
rectification. Under certain conditions, data subjects have the right to ask for their data to be deleted
or its use restricted. Data subjects also have the right to object to
processing of their personal data, on grounds relating to their particular
situation, at any time. Data subjects must submit a
written request addressed to Frontex in order to exercise their rights.
Data subjects may at any time consult Frontex Data Protection Officer (dataprotectionoffice@frontex.europa.eu) or have recourse to the European Data Protection
Supervisor (edps@edps.europa.eu).
