Training Needs Assessment and Training Evaluation

The EBCG Training Needs Assessment (TNA) methodology is designed to identify training requirements and determine any gaps between the current situation of training products and operational needs. A systematic needs assessment enables the effective implementation of transparent training planning processes based on objective evidence aligned with the Frontex strategic planning cycle whilst accommodating urgent training needs. The purpose of the TNA is to determine the operational training needs of Frontex staff and training in EU Member States, Schengen Area Countries, third countries, and Working Arrangement Countries for the purpose of the implementation of integrated border management practices.

The starting point for the assessment process is represented by the Annual EBCG Academy Training Catalogue combined with the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) methodology, which identifies all training needs, for both internal and external stakeholders, EU Member States, Schengen Area Countries, third countries, and Working Arrangement Countries.

Furthermore, training evaluation is a key component of training quality and consists of a predictable cycle of measuring the effectiveness of training, recognising key issues or areas of concern, and taking action as necessary to consistently enhance quality.
