Coming up in February 2024: An exciting opportunity to explore the world
of future training technologies. Prepare for an immersive experience and join
us in Krakow in February 2024.
Highlights of the Future Training Technologies conference:
- Discover industry showcasing
new technologies to meet the training needs of 10 000 EU Border Guard
officers of various nationalities and skill sets. Up to 50 companies will
have the opportunity to showcase their most recent innovation and provide
live demonstrations in an exhibition space of 400 m2. The technologies
will range from the day-to-day management of training to new tools for
physical, virtual, and blended training capabilities.
- Meet
decision-makers who will shape law enforcement training in the years
to come. Experts from the Ministries of Interior, training centres and
leading national academies for law enforcement officers from Member States
and Schengen Associated Countries, as well as representatives from the
Commission and EU Agencies, will share their knowledge on future training
technologies.
- Hear
from researchers from a wide range of disciplines, research and
innovation settings. Enjoy presentations about innovative developments in
training and education, across different modes and technology areas.
By the end of 2027, Frontex will have up to 10 000
EU Border Guard at its disposal. Due to this immense growth, the agency needs
to establish its own training
capabilities. The upcoming conference will serve as an opportunity to share
knowledge with leading experts in the training technologies of the future.
The event is planned for in-person participation
only. Invitations will follow.
Call for industry
Frontex seeks to
become familiar with innovative training technologies to fully develop its
training capabilities in relation to the growth of the Standing Corps, which,
in the coming years will be composed of 10 000 officers.
The agency is
particularly interested in two main clusters of training technologies:
1. Innovative solutions for training management and
administration to effectively collect and utilise data to provide reliable and
actionable insights about the learning processes. In particular:
- Learning Management Systems including
Document Management Systems for training to enhance collaboration and training
experiences and to streamline the administrative and management processes;
- Analytics including solutions for digital
assessments and distribution of resources;
- Adaptive learning solutions including
Artificial Intelligence (AI) adaptive learning tools contributing to the
establishment of a full-fledged learner centred approach, and technologies able
to connect with existing learning management systems.
2. Innovative training technologies
- Virtual technologies comprising
simulation tools, virtual reality (VR), gamification, and AI techniques applied
to these environments;
- Blended technologies bridging the
physical and virtual worlds by means of wearable and touchable devices
including VR goggles and robotics;
- Physical technologies including 3D
printing technologies to support the creation, sharing, and production of
training aids that can be used in physical learning environments.
Where will the
event take place?
The event will
take place in the modern ICE Kraków Congress Centre. Up to 50
companies will have the possibility to present their solutions to the audience
during dedicated sessions conducted either at the company’s stand or on the
central stage.
In addition to
showcasing innovative training technologies, companies will have the
opportunity to have separate bilateral meetings with participants.
Who can
participate and how to register?
Industry
representatives interested in contributing to the Conference and exhibiting
innovative solutions for training technologies are invited to make an
expression of interest by completing an online survey available here. Registration
will be open until 10 December 2023.
The received
proposals will be evaluated and selected based on their relevance to the theme
of the Conference in a way that ensures that different thematic areas are
adequately represented.
Attendance is by
invitation only, up to 50 companies will be invited; more information will be
communicated separately to the selected applicants. Technological solutions
must respect the legal limitations resulting from the European Union data
protection rules and human rights provisions.
How will the
submissions be evaluated?
All submissions
will be evaluated internally, ensuring alignment with the needs of the European
Border and Coast Guard community while ensuring the fair and transparent
treatment of all participants.
Call for papers
Future
training technologies, the theme of the conference, welcomes contributions from
a wide range of disciplines and research and innovation areas that explore new
developments in the fields of training and education, across all modes and
technology domains.
Frontex
invites submissions of research papers that through practice, conceptual
thinking and empirical research examine solutions and concepts with direct
applicability or show significant potential to upscale border management
education and training capabilities, as well as contribute to the
digitalisation process.
Some
important topics that should be addressed by the papers include, but are not
limited to,
- Emerging
training and education technologies and concepts, such as conceptual
models, taxonomies, ontologies, case
studies and analysis relevant for border management related training;
- New
case studies and applications using methods and technologies to improve
the efficiency of border management training and education, and the
content adequacy;
- Legal,
data protection, and human rights studies analysing the potential impact
of the adoption of emerging training technologies (like AI, mixed reality,
etc.) and how to efficiently address them;
- Future
vision on the education and training of the European Border and Coast
Guard community, including artificial intelligence and machine learning
approaches, solutions for virtual academies and the interoperability of
training.
