On 17 February 2009 the Working Arrangement between Frontex and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia was signed in Belgrade.
During a short meeting with the press, the Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić and the Executive Director of Frontex Ilkka Laitinen, stressed the importance of a well functioning operational and technical cooperation across the EU External Borders - one of the core elements of the EU Integrated Border Management (IBM) concept implemented by the Agency.
The cooperation between Frontex and the Border Police of Serbia will be developed gradually with the aim to reach a sustainable partnership. The cooperation will focus on joint operational activities in the field of Border Control, training, as well as technical cooperation in the field of research and development.
