On 19 February 2009 Director of the Albanian State Police, Ahmet Prençi and the Executive Director of Frontex, Ilkka Laitinen signed the working arrangement between Frontex and the Albanian State Police.
“The implementation of the integrated border management is inextricably linked with well functioning cross-border cooperation” - said Frontex Executive Director.
The cooperation between Frontex and the Department of Border and Migration of the Albanian State Police will be developed gradually. While joint activities in the field of risk analysis already took place, joint operational measures and training are in an advanced planning stage.
So far Frontex has formalised the cooperation with law enforcement authorities of eight countries including the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Croatia, Moldova, Georgia, the fYR of Macedonia, Serbia and Albania.
