Warsaw — Representatives of Frontex and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) signed a working arrangement on 17 April 2012.
Frontex Executive Director Ilkka Laitinen and UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov signed the document during a meeting of the Central Asia Border Security Initiative (CABSI) in Vienna, Austria. The arrangement foresees cooperation in the fields of risk analysis, capacity-building, training and information exchange as well as mutual consultation between the two organisations. UNODC specialises in the global fight against illicit drugs and transnational organised crime while Frontex’s mandate focuses on coordination of operations at external borders of the European Union.
UNODC is the sixth international organisation with which Frontex has concluded a Working Arrangement.
