The CCWP was represented by Roel van ‘t Veld and Cees Fossen from the outgoing Dutch presidency, Jana Kpodekon and Peter Krnáč from the incoming Slovak presidency and Kevin Francica from Malta.
“I am committed and fully encourage the development of cooperation between customs and border guards in the member states and at the EU level, “said Leggeri.
“Fortunately the new legislative proposal for European Boarder and Coast Guard promotes cooperation between Frontex and other relevant partners in border management, including customs,” he added.
The main areas for development of cooperation could include joint operations, exchange of information for risk analysis and common training activities in areas such as countering cross border crime, passenger control and use of technologies.
The CCWP operates under the umbrella of the European Council and coordinates operational cooperation among the national customs administrations.
