The post was left vacant at the end of May when Ilkka Laitinen, the first Frontex executive director left the agency after 9 years of service. The vacancy was announced in today’s Official Journal C 180 A.
Among the qualities of candidates the vacancy enlists:
- Solid experience preferably in border management, or else migration or law enforcement;
- Ability to develop an overall forward-looking vision for the agency;
- Proven administrative, management and communication skills.
The executive director will be appointed by the Management Board on the basis of a shortlist established by the European Commission.
