Frontex Research Grants Programme: six projects selected

Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, is pleased to reveal the six projects selected as part of the second Call for Proposals of the Frontex Research Grants Programme. In September, Frontex hosted kick-off meetings with the winning projects, where each research team presented its workplan and objectives. These sessions marked the formal start of a collaborative effort to advance innovative solutions for European border management and security.

The six awarded projects are:

  • MANTLE – Multistatic MIMO radar based on radio-over-fibre technology for drone detection
  • BSENSED – Digital twin from multi-sensor data for enhanced border surveillance and situational awareness
  • iS4ASV – Intelligent Surveillance for Autonomous Unmanned Marine Surface Vehicle
  • CANOPER-1 – Identifying human-made objects under the forest canopy with drone-borne LiDAR data
  • SEAVISTA – Strategic Enhancement of Maritime Awareness for Integrated Security and Decision Support
  • AIM-GATE – AI-powered Multispectral Dataset for Gait and Face Recognition at Borders
