Mihai started his Frontex journey as a Tactical Support Officer, supporting operational response at the EU's external borders in Spain. Since joining the Agency, he has taken on a range of operational, coordinating and leadership responsibilities, working with colleagues from different Member States and across different areas of Frontex's operations. Among other roles, he has worked as an FTSO ORS and FCO Support Coordinating Officer and has also provisionally taken on responsibilities as Deputy Contingent Commander.

Today, Mihai serves as a Section Leader in the Standing Corps. In this role, he acts as the bridge between Frontex's operational plans and what actually happens on the ground, coordinating the deployed officers in his section and working hand in hand with the Host Country authorities. He ensures operations run smoothly, from organising briefings and daily reports to monitoring needs and challenges on the ground, so that every officer has what they need to respond effectively.

His journey reflects the different opportunities that Frontex offers its officers to develop professionally, take on new responsibilities and contribute to the Agency's mission in different ways.

"When I look back at my journey with Frontex, I see much more than a progression through different positions. Every role has challenged me to learn something new, take greater responsibility and work with people from different professional and cultural backgrounds. I started as a Tactical Support Officer and, through the opportunities and challenges I encountered along the way, I have progressed into coordination and leadership roles. Today, as a Section Leader, I still see every new challenge as an opportunity to learn, support my colleagues and contribute to the European mission."
