Today, it is difficult to find a better place to contribute to the EU’s security than Frontex.
As a lawyer and political scientist, I have always been interested in security matters. I believe that in a globalised world, cooperation, strong networks, and information exchange are key. I have been involved in EU law enforcement for over fifteen years and have witnessed an enormous change in this area despite legal and political complexities. Before I moved to Frontex, I had the privilege of serving with Europol for eight years, where I was able to observe how security cooperation can reach new levels. Still a lot remains to be done and there are challenges ahead of us.
The ongoing growth of Frontex is part of the European Union's response to the aforementioned challenges. I am glad that I can contribute to this response by heading a Unit that facilitates the Agency’s partnerships with other EU agencies and international organisations. Together, we are stronger and more effective. It is a pleasure to work with highly committed and professional colleagues who share the same vision and enthusiasm. Today, it is difficult to find a better place to contribute to the EU’s security than Frontex.
Frontex has a broad, complex mandate and plays a vital role in upholding Europe’s values and laws. Its operational footprint is growing steadily and the Standing Corps is being built as Europe’s first uniformed service. It is great to be part of Frontex. What professional challenge can be more exciting than that?
