Meet Jelena, one of the first recruits to the Frontex Standing Corps from Croatia.
“I
took part in four international missions in North Macedonia. These
foreign missions made my life richer. I had a feeling that I am doing
something good for the community. That’s why I decided to apply to Frontex.
I see Frontex as an opportunity to serve my community on a higher level.
When I am protecting the EU external border, I am protecting my own country as well.
The
first part of the training that we all began in June was demanding,
but we supported each other with a lot of positive vibes. It
was interesting to learn from others about their experience. At Frontex I
am keen to focus on fighting cross-border crime, especially trafficking
in human beings.
In my spare time, I like shooting. I have participated in shooting competitions organised by police associations where we would shoot from high-calibre pistols, same as our service weapon. Once I even won the top prize at an international shooting competition in Croatia.”
