Ongoing recruitment 2025–2026

In 2025–2026, Frontex plans to recruit up to 400 officers for the Standing Corps, including:

This page will carry the latest updates on each stage of the recruitment process.

Stages of the selection procedure

Candidates will be invited to each required test once. Requests for rescheduling the date and time of a test will not be granted.

Those who do not appear at the given selection stage test on time and under the announced conditions of participation will be excluded from the recruitment/selection procedure.

European Border and Coast Guard Officers — Team Members (FGIV)

Status: Recruitment ongoing

STAGE I (conducted online)

  • Knowledge test – scheduled for January 2026 (date to be confirmed)
  • English language proficiency test(s) – scheduled for January 2026 (date to be confirmed)

STAGE II

  • Physical aptitude and swimming tests (conducted in Warsaw) – scheduled for February 2026
  • Psychometric tests – scheduled for February 2026

STAGE III

  • Psychological assessment (in the form of an online interview) – scheduled for 2nd half of March 2026
  • Competency-based interview – scheduled for the 2nd half of April 2026

STAGE IV

  • Pre-recruitment medical examination – date to be confirmed

European Border and Coast Guard Officers — Deputy Section Leaders (AD8) and Head of Operational Horizontal Activities in the Command Team (AD8)

What you can do now:

  • Review information from the Vacancy Notice (Team Member, Deputy Section Leader and Head of Operational Activities)
  • Collect applicable documents and certificates
  • Practise for the physical ability and swimming tests: Physical aptitude test, Multistage 20-m Shuttle Run Test - Beep Test (Beep Test version: Léger and Lambert  - the test involves running back and forth between two points 20 metres apart. Each run must be synchronised with a pre-recorded audio track which plays beeps at regular intervals) Swim - 50 m, Free diving - dynamic apnea)
  • Review the list of reference materials to prepare yourself better for the knowledge test (the list is non-exhaustive, only indicative and it is meant to support applicants in their preparation)

Prepare for the knowledge test, which will include topics such as:

1. EU legislation related to Frontex and border and/or coast guard functions and/or return-related activities (for all positions)

2. Functioning of EU institutions and bodies, including operational cooperation between the European Union and international organisations (for all positions)

3. Awareness of the EU’s geopolitical situation (for leadership positions)

4. Fundamental rights and their implementation in the law enforcement sector (for all positions)

5. Leadership and resource management (for leadership positions)

6. Professionalism, integrity, responsibility, and adherence to high ethical values (for all positions)

7. ICT knowledge needed to act as a member of the Standing Corps (for all positions)


Practise your English language skills, as the B2 level, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), is required.
