Upcoming recruitment 2025–2026

In 2025–2026, Frontex plans to recruit up to 500 officers for the Standing Corps, including:

  • European Border and Coast Guard Officers — Group Members (FGIV)
  • European Border and Coast Guard Officers — Deputy Section Leaders (AD8)

What you can do now:

  • Review information from last year’s recruitment to understand the procedure
  • Prepare applicable documents and certificates
  • Practise for the physical ability and swimming tests: Physical aptitude test, Multistage 20-m Shuttle Run Test - Beep Test (Beep Test version: Léger and Lambert  - the test involves running back and forth between two points 20 metres apart. Each run must be synchronised with a pre-recorded audio track which plays beeps at regular intervals) Swim - 50 m, Free diving - dynamic apnea)

Prepare for the knowledge test, which will include topics such as:

1. EU legislation related to Frontex and border and/or coast guard functions and/or return-related activities (for all positions).

2. Functioning of EU institutions and bodies, including operational cooperation between European and international organisations (for all positions).

3. Awareness of the EU’s geopolitical situation (for leadership positions),

4. Fundamental rights and their implementation in the law enforcement sector (for all positions).

5. Leadership and resource management (for leadership positions),

6. Professionalism, integrity, responsibility, and adherence to high ethical values (for all positions).

7. ICT knowledge needed to act as a member of the Standing Corps (for all positions).

Practise your English language skills, as the B2 level, as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required
